Through research it was identified that there wasn't a cycling project that could meet the needs of disabled children. young people.as well as Adults and their families. It was shown that many disabled young people had never experienced cycling due to many reasons including the lack of appropriate equipment. The funding for the scheme comes from the Hull Aiming High Agenda. Through consultation it was shown a cycling project was needed for the disabled and carers. All this was researched face to face and through questionnaires and finally funding was passed for the scheme in east park. There was an open and people came along to try the different cycles and this also showed which design types of cycles would be needed in the future. Phase 2 featured the building of the specialized area housing the bikes and disabled toilet block workshop and office. The scheme is manned by specially trained staff from the Park.Who do all the Maintainance and setting up of the cycles and are always on hand to give advice.. Bookings are now taken from the reception at the central pavilion during the week and at the scheme site on weekends and bank holidays. The scheme is open 7 days a week but check with reception on closing times.
